Sujatha Sekhar Naik


Sujatha Sekhar Naik is a senior capital markets professional whose experience encompasses policy and strategy development, governance, compliance, and dispute resolution. A financial markets and dispute resolution specialist, she is the Principal Partner of SSN Consult PLT. With over 30 years of experience, Sujatha brings a practical and holistic understanding of the capital market and the regulatory framework, together with insight into investor concerns and challenges.

Her work as a regulator at the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), included advisory and reform work in both the General Counsel's Office and the Corporate Finance and Investments Business Group. She was also responsible for the development and implementation of the SC's investor education strategy and management of complaints relating to market misconduct. She was seconded by the SC in March 2013 to head the Securities Industry Dispute Resolution Center (SIDREC). As CEO, Sujatha helped steer SIDREC's strategic direction, building its capacity and scope to ensure its dispute resolution service continued to be in step with international best practice and the needs of a developing capital market.

Sujatha has served on the Committee of the International Network of Financial Services Ombudsman Schemes. A strong advocate of investor education, Sujatha was also a member of the Advisory Board of the International Forum of Investor Education from 2010 to July 2015. She represented the SC on IOSCO's Committee 8 on Retail Investors, as well as on several inter-agency committees in Malaysia.

Sujatha obtained her LLB (Hons) degree from the University of London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1989 and re-qualified with the Law Society of England and Wales as a Solicitor in 1990. She was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1998. Sujatha is an accredited mediator and certified trainer and coach, of the Bar Council's Malaysian Mediation Centre.
